MOSAIC Community Group

Connecting 40-something singles to the Christ-life through biblical teaching, healthy relationships, and service to others

Mark your calendars.  On Sunday, December 18th, we are planning to go to the Living Christmas Tree.

More details will be forthcoming.

Join us on December 10 for dinner and fun.  Mosaic will meet at Cherokee Mills (corner of Sutherland and Concord) for a catered dinner.  More details will be coming.

The Sunday after Thanksgiving, Mosaic will not meet.  However, you are invited to come to lunch at Dan and Amy’s house (7108 Cheshire Drive) after the worship service.

Judy Steadman has graciously opened her home to any and all that would like to come on Thanksgiving Day.  This is a drop-in type of potluck, so come when you can and stay as long as you like.

If you don’t have family nearby to celebrate the holiday, or if you would like to spend some time with your Mosaic family, please join us.

More details and directions will follow.

Join us for an evening of fellowship at Dan and Amy Tankersley’s house as we view the live webcast of John Eldredge’s ‘Beautiful Outlaw’.   Simply come and bring an appetizer to share.

Below is a link to the trailer for this event.

Dan and Amy live at 7108 Cheshire Drive in Knoxville.

Mark your calendars and join us for an evening of fellowship and good food at Janice Siegel’s house on November 12.  This is a great opportunity to bring someone new to see what Mosaic is all about.

Here are directions to Janice’s house:

Address:  4304 McCampbell Lane (if using a GPS, make sure you use Lane and not Road or leave blank.  If you do, you will end up on the other McCampbell across the field).

Take I-40E to I-640.

Go I-640 to the Broadway exit.

At the first light – make a left onto Old Broadway.

At the intersection of Old Broadway (which is now Tazewell Pike) and Tazewell Pike/Sanders make a right.  You will see Pratt’s Market on the corner and across the street is a Shell Station.

Continue on Tazewell Pike, pass the cemetery and church on your right.

Make a right onto Beverly Drive (NOT BEVERLY PLACE)

The first left is McCampbell Lane  – Janice’s house is the 3rd house past the corner of Shannon on the right.  It is an old white farmhouse/cape code with a curved driveway and maybe a dog barking at you as you pull in…..

Below is an email I recently received from Doug Harris regarding the “Pass On A Goat” project to which MOSAIC has contributed. At the bottom of this post you’ll see links for two attachments, one providing an update report on the project and another showing the form that people use to apply for a goat.

Jamey,

I had not really had enough time to do a thorough accountability check of this program in about a year, so I had a Knoxville couple spend 3 days with Dove Church in August.  Part of their task was to visit (and lay eyes on) as many goat recipients in one day as possible.  Attached is their report of 7 homes that were visited.  In short, I am blown away by how much this program is working.  Many of the people are parlaying these goats into another small business. One woman now has a thriving cooking stove business, all because of the goat donation.  Others are buying pigs now.  They also visited Pastor Davis’ goat farm that we funded.  It now has over 40 goats.

I must admit that we have not really attached a specific person to a specific goat/family.  I believe that we are up to about 15 people who have received goats.  Although I just got back from Uganda for 12 days, I still didn’t have time to check on the other homes.  I do know that Rob and Heather could have visited other homes but did not have time as well.  They also were working with the school and testing all of the students.  Overall, it is safe to say that this program is a real success.  Wakiso is a lush area with lots of green stuff for goats to eat.

In my meeting with Pastor Davis last week I agreed to fund another 30 goats for families of children that attend the Dove School.  About 100 of the kids out of 240 currently pay NO school fees which are $100 per year.  Families that receive a goat will agree to give the firstborn kid from each pregnancy.  This will empower the families to pay school fees and also make extra income.  Average goats birth 2 to 3 each time.

Flourish!
Doug
